1962 .Borne Out of Sheer Determination and Hardwork
Globe Construction Supply made a name for itself as a reliable supplier of paints from Globesco, Pacific Paints Boysen and RM auto refinishing paints serving the needs of the booming jeep conversion industry and wholesaling to various retailers. The list of various satisfied costumers included Ford Philippines, Francisco Motors, Sarao Motors, Melford Motors, and Mitsubishi Motors, among others.
Emiliano Sr. realized the opportunities in the importation of goods to complement its paint offering, and went on to establish a network of suppliers. Venus bronze powders (from US Bronze Powders of the US ) started in 1964. It complemented the supply of paints to the casket industry. Fujistar sandpaper was imported to complement the supply of paints to the jeep conversion industry. Norton, a renowned abrasives brand at that time, assigned the exclusive distributorship of its wide-ranging products to Globe in 1967.
1970 . Enterprising Years
At this time was focusing more on importation and distribution rather than the retailing of construction supplies. As business was growing, Globe then bought a lot in Mauban Street corner Araneta Avenue, Quezon City, and made it into a new office-warehouse.
With renewed vigor, the company went on to source products from Taiwan in the late seventies. Taiwan as an emerging manufacturing hub for metal products , Globe started distributing products from several Taiwanese companies- YC tools ( screwdrivers, c-clamps, and vice grips ), Hu Lin ( drawer slides and concealed hinges ), KYC ( caster ), and Taiwan Fu Hsing ( locksets, deadbolts, and handle sets).
1980. Passing the Torch
In 1985, Emiliano Sr. looked for another site to build a bigger base for his business. He saw a vacant lot in Roosevelt Avenue in Barangay San Antonio, Quezon City. It was big enough for the company’s needs then and was in the center of the city. He initially built a six-floor building on it with the ground floor serving as store, office, and holding area. The understanding at this time was to centralize all operations and sales activities at the new office at Roosevelt Avenue and to just maintain warehousing at Mauban St. Also, left at Mauban were the facilities for storage of the paints, storage and sales of thinners, and the repacking of other products.
1990 . Two Steps Forward
In1990. SM together with a partner was organizing the very first Do-It- Yourself (DIY ) hardware store inside a mall called Hardware Workshop and Globe was invited to supply the store. At that time, it was a novel idea. Globe took up the challenge and decided to support the venture. They do merchandising in the store, filling up racks with waterproof sandpaper, aerosol spray paint.
In 1993.Faultless brand locksets were approved for selling in the DIY stores. Other products, like drawer slides, casters, concealed hinges, and Closet Maid shelving were later on added to the list of items supplied by Globe. This was done to help with the growing demands of the business.
2000 . Phoenix Rising
Globe embarked on the expansion of its network of customers. In the early 2000’s Globe became one of the suppliers of Wilson’s Home Depot and Ortigas Home Depot. Next was Citi Hardware in Davao.
In 2002. Globe being accepted as a supplier for Handyman again after a falling out with Handyman years before. A review of product offerings was promptly done and it was decided that they needed to identify and focus on products that can become its core star product offering. Faultless the brand of locksets manufactured by a family friend was immediately identified as a focus brand.
Search was done to replace the business with Norton. At that time, Mirka was ranked 8th to 10th biggest coated abrasive manufacturer in the world and was being eyed as the alternative.
In 2001, it was identified that RJ products offered great value. A plan was made and marketing focus was implemented to get RJ sales off the ground. In less than a year, the full line of RJ was available in SM, Handyman and the various DIY stores.
In November 2004, PYE of Malaysia was looking for a partner that can contribute its products to the whole of the Philippines.
In 2007, Globe International decided to build his own house brands. BRONCO floor coating, elastomeric paint, and body fillers were launched in 2008 while PRIMERO Multi-Seal was introduced in 2009. These brands have constantly grown over the years and have continuously gained loyal customers.
