COMPANY HISTORY

Founded in 1962 as Globe Construction Supply, the company began by supplying paints to the jeep-conversion industry and major customers such as Ford Philippines and Mitsubishi. Early product expansions included Venus bronze powders (1964) and the exclusive Norton abrasives distributorship (1967).

In the 1970s Globe shifted from retail to importation and distribution, opening a Mauban Street office-warehouse and adding Taiwanese suppliers for tools, hinges, casters, and locksets. In 1985 the company centralized operations with a new building on Roosevelt Avenue and in 1986 incorporated as Globe International Distributor Center, Inc. (GIDCI).

In 1980, Emiliano Jr. joined after college and, when Emiliano Sr. suffered a stroke, assumed leadership of the business.

Globe grew with the DIY retail trend (supplying the first mall-based Hardware Workshop in 1990), introduced FAULTLESS locksets in 1993, and expanded into major retail chains in the 2000s (Ace Hardware, Wilcon Home Depot, Handyman, etc). The company partnered with international suppliers (Mirka, RJ, PYE) and launched its house brands—BRONCO and PRIMERO—between 2008–2009.

To professionalize operations, the family engaged consultants in 2013, implemented an ERP and modern IT systems, and brought in senior leaders from established corporations.

Today, GIDCI is more than a conventional hardware supplier: it serves modern trade depots and supply institutional clients including Lufthansa and Toyota Motors—combining a long trading history with modern systems and leadership to serve the Philippines’ construction and hardware markets.
